It's not always easy to get along with all people all the time, especially on social media.

A lot of times it's hard to understand tone and context when reading the written word.

People also tend to vent on social media during the times they probably shouldn't be.

As humans, most of us want to help and we give advice or add in our two cents, even if no one wants it. There are times where people seem to want advice and even ask for it, but they really just want someone to agree with them.

There are a million different ways that people end relationships over misunderstandings or stupid disagreements on social media.

Personally, I have thousands of conversations every single day on many different platforms as social media is how I make my living.

It's not always easy to bite one's tongue, but it's usually worth it. If you're getting mixed signals from someone that is venting on social media consider asking them "do you really want my feedback or opinion" or simply tell them "I'm pretty sure you don't want my opinion."

That may not always make people happy, but it's fair. It also lets them know you don't agree without making you a total jerk. Another thing that I like about this tactic is it gives people an opportunity to either agree that they don't want to hear your bullshit or let you know that they actually want your feedback.
